The local community group was selected as winners from over 4,000 nominations and subsequently was visited by the Lidl Community Crew and premier Chef Ian Orr at their base in Lisburn to receive their reward and a party.

The funds provided from Lidl will go towards new circus equipment for the group that will enhance the training of both new students and high skilled participants.

Over 50 people were in attendance for the Community Crews visit and were treated to some skills demonstrations from some of the younger group members as well as getting to attempt a couple of the activities themselves.

After the party, Project Manager of Community Circus Lisburn Helen Ashton said, “We are delighted to have been selected by Lidl for this award.

“The funding we have received guarantees our work through September and into October. We are extremely proud of the work we do and are very grateful to Lidl for their recognition and support.”

Lidl Community Crew member Aoife Jackson said, “From our visit with Community Circus Lisburn we got to witness all the great work they do for their members that is both beneficial and fun.

“We also had great fun watching the kids preform and we even got to try out some of the skills ourselves.

“We hope Lidl’s donation will go a long way for Community Circus Lisburn and will allow them to continue their great work in and around their local communities.”

The Lidl Community Works campaign, which launched in June this year, will see Lidl Northern Ireland back a variety of local community groups and projects from all over the province.

The Lidl Community Crew will visit each of the winning groups in the coming months as they plan and facilitate fundraising events to help sustain the fantastic work of each project in their local area.

Food will be a central focus at each of the events, helping Lidl not only mark the Northern Ireland Year of Food and Drink 2016 but also celebrate the many local suppliers that Lidl Northern Ireland works with.
