College calls for community radiovolunteers

THE SOUTH Eastern Regional College is on the lookout for people who are interested in becoming involved in the Lisburn Community Radio station

The College in Castle Street is hosting a Community Radio Volunteer event on Thursday, October 6.

People who are interested in becoming involved can express their interest and find out further details about the station. “This is an excellent opportunity for budding radio presenters, or for people who already have experience of working in the broadcasting industry and would like to give something back to their local community” said a college spokesperson.

The station will broadcast from the SERC’s Castle Street Campus in Lisburn and cover the wider community area after recently receiving a broadcasting licence from Ofcom.

It will broadcast a range of music and discussion programmes with a distinct local flavour representing the interests of all sections of the local community.

The event on October 6 begins at 7pm. It is free to attend and requires no registration. Full details of plans for the Community Radio Station will be discussed at the meeting.
