Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland welcomes Lisburn Mayor for a refreshing visit around the local bottling plant

Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland was delighted to recently welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council to the local Coca-Cola bottling facility.

Operating since 2008, the state-of-the-art Coca-Cola facility at Knockmore Hill Lisburn, Co. Antrim employs more than 500 people and serves the entire island of Ireland market.

The visit offered Councillor Brian Bloomfield, MBE and his wife Rosalind Bloomfield the opportunity to take a trip down the production lines to see how the world’s number one soft drink is produced, right on their doorstep in Lisburn.

The Mayor and Mayoress were also introduced to the facility’s award-winning Visitors Experience, which has four-star accreditation from Tourism Northern Ireland. The Visitors Experience includes portals to view manufacturing floor; a Heritage Theatre with an old American-style cinema atmosphere; and an educational interactive zone.

Of particular interest to the Mayor and Mayoress, was the overview of Coca-Cola’s commitment to supporting local community initiatives, active healthy lifestyles, youth development and environmental stewardship.

During their visit, the Mayor and Mayoress took time out to meet with employees from the manufacturing side of the business and were given a unique insight to processes involved in producing Coca-Cola beverages from start to finish.

Peter Martin, production zone manager said, “As a significant local employer with a strong heritage in Lisburn, we were delighted to host the Mayor and Mayoress to our 45-acre facility.

“We appreciated the time they spent meeting with the employees and hope they enjoyed gaining a glimpse into the production, history and marketing of some of the world’s best loved soft drinks.”

Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh, Councillor Brian Bloomfield said, “Our visit to Coca-Cola at Knockmore Hill was an eye-opening, enlightening experience. Coca Cola is at the forefront of technological innovation in the manufacturing process while demonstrating awareness of the need to respond to issues relating to health and the environment. The bottling facility is clearly at the forefront of the Council area’s manufacturing sector. It is great to have this worldwide brand in the Lisburn Castlereagh area.”
