The 101st Irish National Christian Endeavour Convention will be held on Saturday 19 September in Carrickfergus Methodist Church.
In common with every year, local people will be in attendance. Appropriately, the theme for the 101st will be, “One More Step”.
The guest speaker is the Revd Mark Russell, Minister of Leckpatrick Presbyterian Church.
The Young People’s activities begin on the previous night in St Nicholas Church of Ireland halls.
On Saturday there will be seminars and a treasure hunt for them while the Seniors/Comrades will attend a meeting addressed by the Revd Dr Paul Bailey.
Children will enjoy a fun day in First Carrickfergus Presbyterian Church halls.
The closing service will be at 7.30pm, addressed by the Revd Mark Russell.
Mrs Rosemary McDaniel will be installed as All Ireland President of CE at that service.
Mrs McDaniel, who grew up on a small farm between Cullybackey and Rasharkin, was educated at the local Primary School at Laboy and Cambridge House in Ballymena.
She and husband Trevor met while undergraduates and, following their marriage in 1978, set up home near Ballygawley.
Rosemary was blessed with a career which she loved - teaching P1 and P2 children - taking a short career break when their three daughters were small. Now, having taken early retirement, much of her time is taken up with their five grandchildren.
Brought to Church and Sunday School, Rosemary was saved at the age of fourteen. Two years later she began teaching Sunday School and helping with the Children’s Meeting.
Church was to play an important role in her life and still does today.
Loving her Lord and loving working with children, Rosemary was delighted when asked to help with Ballygawley and Ballyreagh Junior CE Society.
She was to go on to become its leader for more than twenty years. Currently Secretary of Armagh & South Tyrone CE Union and Assistant General Secretary of the Irish National Christian Endeavour Union, and looking towards the year ahead, she quotes Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, and affirms that God is able to strengthen if we are willing to trust Him.
In 2007/08 Rosemary was honoured with the CE Presidency and is looking forward to serving a second term.
