Charity evening puts the ‘fun’ in fundraising

A ‘PAMPERED Chef’ evening is taking place next week to raise funds for this year’s Mayoral Charity, Lisburn 2gether Special Olympics Club.

The Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Brian Heading, said it would feature a cooking show, guests will see and try products, prepare and sample recipes, learn quick and easy food preparation techniques and get tips to entertain with style and ease.

“Those attending will also have the opportunity to purchase anything from the Pampered Chef product line including cookware, cutlery, cookbooks, stoneware and pantry products. You can obtain the simple affordable solution to get your meal on the table whilst helping to raise funds for a worthwhile local charity” the Mayor said.

Lisburn 2gether Special Olympics Club has worked steadily over the years to allow those with an intellectual disability to compete in their chosen sports at a local, national and international level. This charity also provides the opportunity for its members to participate in their communities and develop belief in themselves.

Mr Heading added: “The commitment of the athletes, coaching staff and the volunteers within Lisburn 2gether is outstanding within the local community. In the Lisburn Club athletes can participate in badminton, football, swimming and bocce. In fact, three local Lisburn athletes representing this charity recently won a gold medal each whilst participating in the ‘Special Olympics Summer Games’ in Athens.

“For more than four decades, the Special Olympics has been bringing one message to the world: people with intellectual disabilities can and will succeed if given the opportunity.”

The Pampered Chef event takes place at Lagan Valley Island on Thursday 29 September at 7pm and all proceeds are in aid of the Mayor’s Charity. Admission is £5 per person and refreshments will be provided.
