Chantelle hits the right note for charity

CHANTELLE McAteer was in fine voice recently when she recorded a CD and donated the proceeds to charity.

Chantelle, who was a pupil at Oakwood Integrated Primary School when she made the CD and is now a Year 8 student at Lagan Integrated College, had lost family members and friends to cancer.

She decided to record a CD and give all the proceeds to Marie Curie Cancer Care, who look after her grandfather.

Local shops in Dromore, where she lives, as well as in Belfast, Lisburn and Moira agreed to the sell the CDs. With the help of Translink they were able to raise £1160 for Marie Curie.

Chantelle is well known for her participation in local singing competitions, such as Citybeat Young Star Search and Lisburn School of Music Talent Shows.

In December 2010 she came second in the Kids Got Talent Competition run by PIPS at Trinity Lodge in Belfast and hopes to release another CD this year with all the money raised going to PIPS.

She also was in Dana’s final 32 of the RTE All Ireland Talent Show in November and hopes to back this year to see if she can make the live finals.
