Call for more action to tackle crime

DROMARA Councillor Paul Stewart has called for additional Police resources to be deployed to the Dromara rural area after a spike in crime over the past few months.

Mr Stewart said; “After a robbery at a house in Woodvale and at a business premises in the village in the early hours of Sunday morning, I have spoken to police requesting for additional resources be deployed to the rural area, particular in the early hours of the morning. We have seen a spike in crime in the rural Dromara and Hillsborough area and this is totally unacceptable and when the new PCSP Board meets this will be one of the first things I will be speaking on.”

He continued: “I would like to thank the Local Community Policing Team for their hard work and commitment, however there needs to be additional resources deployed to the area to tackle the issue. In addition I would call for the judicial system to hand out much harder prison sentences, as I personally believe that prison does work.

“I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI and together we can beat these mindless hoods.”
