Lagan Valley MLA and Ulster Unionist infrastructure spokesperson Jenny Palmer has called on the Stormont Executive “to get its act in gear and bring the headquarters of some of the new departments to the constituency”.
Mrs Palmer stressed what she called the need “for the immediate decentralisation of government administration away from Belfast and into constituencies like Lagan Valley”.
She said: “One of the improvements must be the decentralisation of government administration away from Belfast. I want to see all departments, particularly the Department for Infrastructure, leading the way in spreading the administration across Northern Ireland plc.
“The minister need look no further than my constituency to recognise in the Resurgam Trust in Lisburn the model of how the department can foster community-led improvements to infrastructure and support the third sector in sustainable business.”
