Will and Alison Abernethy were the speakers at the October meeting of Drumbeg WI.
They demonstrated the art of making butter by hand, and explained how their business had started and developed.
It was fascinating to watch the butter being rolled on butterpats and wrapped ready for sale. They also market fudge and their products are supplied to hotels and retail outlets in England, Scotland and Ireland. Celebrity Chef Heston Blumenthal uses the butter in his restaurant The Fat Duck.
Following supper Vice President Elizabeth Fleming expressed good wishes to Pat McKeag who had recently celebrated a special birthday and welcomed visitors Emily Twaddell, Mary Gallagher, and Irene McIvoy.
She also congratulated the team who won second place for their ‘Baby Shower’ exhibit at the City of Belfast Autumn show. Kathleen Kerr’s quiche was give third prize. Competition winners were Sheelagh McRandal Margaret Clegg and Kathleen Kerr.
