The Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Uel Mackin, has officially opened a new tea room and farm shop located in Maghaberry.

‘The Shed’ is the brainchild of owner Carol Moore whose family have long farmed the lands in the surrounding area.

The Shed received its name as the building was born out of a agricultural building which has been extensively and sensitively refurbished.

The Shed serves a variety of breakfasts and lunches using only locally sourced produce. It also includes a farm shop and local crafts.

“Being a local myself, I realised we were missing something,” said owner Carol. “Somewhere people can meet and chat in a relaxed atmosphere.

“We are very fortunate to have a manager and 10 new staff who live in the local area.”

Local Councillor Alexander Redpath welcomed the new addition to the community. He said: “I would like to congratulate Carol for making her vision a reality.

“This new business has created vital jobs for the local community. It represents an enormous investment and creates a new social space in the village.”
