Carrick students on the fast-track to technology industry skills

Automated test equipment manufacturer Yelo hosted an Science Festival event for Downshire High School and Carrickfergus College pupils.

The session at the company’s Trooperslane Industrial Estate factory focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.

Pupils were challenged to build a buggy and make it race around the ‘Yelo track’.

During this process the young participants developed soldering, programming and software, and mechanical and electronic skills.

The event ended with a barbecue.
