The site was originally a Crazy Prices development which opened for trading in 1988 and was sold by the owners Associated British Food (ABF) to Tesco Stores Ltd in 1997. Tesco then sold Bow Street Mall to the current private landlord in 2001.
The mall is now twice the original size, gone from just 34 units to over 60.
The first floor was extended in 2002 to include a large food court which can cater for 600 patrons.
The Food Court caters for all tastes and comprises of KFC, Burger King, Subway, Tasty Choice, Chopstix and Barnams.
Bow Street was designed as a logical extension to the prime shopping area of Bow Street, whilst providing the added benefits of an enclosed high specification shopping mall with 1,000 car parking spaces.
Tesco changed the interior of the mall by absorbing the Victorian style kiosks, which were an attractive feature, into the supermarket (now TK Maxx) and Primark. The main anchor tenants in the early days were Crazy Prices and Dunnes Stores (which is still there today).
Other long term tenants include top retailers Vision Express, Peter Mark and Gino. Other major retailers now include Menarys/Tempest, BHS, TK Maxx, Primark, Hanna & Browne and M&S Simply Food to name but a few.
Manager Karen Marshall said, “We place great importance on our customers, they are vital to the existing and future success of the Mall.
“We want all our customers to feel welcome and valued, we work hard to ensure the experience of shopping at Bow Street Mall is pleasurable and knowing that the customer always has choice, that they will choose to shop at Bow Street Mall for many more years to come.”
