Banned from the roads

A man has been banned from driving after pleading guilty to two driving offences.

Gerard Joseph Connors, 41, from Garvey Glen in Belfast, appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court this week charged with driving without insurance and without a driving licence.

The court heard that on December 23, 2012, police spoke to the driver of a car in Dunmurry.

It was revealed the vehicle belonged to his partner and he had no driving licence or insurance.

Defence said the defendant had a previous conviction for no insurance but it was eight years ago.

He said the defendant had made “a foolish decision” to drive his son to the hairdressers.

District Judge Hamill banned Connors from driving for twelve months. On the charge of having no insurance he imposed a fine of £200. On the charge of having no driving licence he was fined £60.
