Band dedicates anniversary flag

There was a double celebration for Pride of Knockmore Flute Band last Friday night (June 5).

Not only did the local band celebrate its 40th anniversary with the dedication of a new uniform and flag, it also had great success at a band contest in Markethill.

The Rev John Pickering conducted service for the dedication of the new shirts , belts and flag, which was presented to the band by senior members A.Poots and M. Adams.

Following the service, the band then held a parade around the Knockmore estate, where it was originally founded forty years ago.

The bandsmen then hopped on a bus and made their way to a band contest in Markethill, where they competed against 91 other bands in the Kilcluney Volunteers Annual Parade. The local band were delighted to be awarded first in Style & Appearance and second marching and discipline.
