BANBRIDGE’S CRIME RATE GOES DOWN

CRIME rate in Banbridge has decreased slightly from last February, according to recent statistics released by the police.

In Banbridge there were 109 crime related incidents in February, compared to 127 incidents during the same time last year.

From April last year, there were 721 anti social behaviour, 217 criminal damage and 295 reports of violent crime

But anti-social behaviour and violent crime are still the main crimes of the area.

In February, there were 51 anti-social behaviour incidents reported, and 29 incidents of violent crime compared to 61 anti-social behaviour incidents with 21 incidents of violent crime reported last February.

Other reported crimes in Banbridge in February were two burglary incidents, 12 criminal damage and arson, four drugs related incidents, 12 reports of criminal damage and arson, two other theft and one public disorder and weapon related incidents.

There was just one robbery reported, one shoplifting incident and no vehicle incidents reported and just one other crime incident reported.

In February this year nine crimes took place near Scarva Walk relating to anti social behaviour, burglary, criminal and drugs related incidents.

There were five crimes reported at Castlewellan Road in relation to violent crime, criminal damage and anti social behaviour and at Belmont View five crimes were in relation to anti social behaviour, criminal damage and three incidents of violent crime.

In February 2012 there were 127 crime incidents reported for the area, seven break-ins, 17 criminal damage and arson, five drugs incidents, seven thefts, one public disorder and weapons incident and one robbery.

There were four shoplifting incidents, two vehicle crimes and one other crime incidents.

Eight crimes took place in Belmont View in relation to anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and arson and drugs related.

There were eight reported crimes at Hillhead Park relating to anti social behaviour, criminal damage and violent crime.

At Bridge Street there were five reported crimes in relation to anti social behaviour, criminal damage and violent crime,
