Arrested for theft

Last Friday afternoon (January 29) CityWatch CCTV staff in the local control room were made aware of a male who had committed a theft from a shop within a shopping complex in Lisburn.

The CCTV staff tracked the male, who made his way into a local taxi firm.

Citywatch CCTV staff contacted the firm and cancelled his taxi as the police had already been tasked to the taxi depot.

The male was stopped and as he was about to be arrested he made quick his escape.

However, thanks to the speedy response of the two police officers and help from the Security Staff of Bow Street Mall the male was stopped, detained and arrested for the theft of goods valued at well over £250.

If you have any information about a crime in the Lisburn area, contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
