Constable Baxter said, “At around 4.30pm, fully trained tactical pursuit officers signalled for the driver of a silver Vauxhall Vectra to stop after witnessing the car being driven erratically.

“The Vectra made off, travelling at speed, onto the Knockmore Road, causing other drivers to swerve before finally colliding with a silver Peugeot car at the junction of Knockmore Road and Windermere Avenue. The driver exited the vehicle following the collision, but police, with the assistance of members of the public, detected and arrested the suspect a short distance away.”
