Annual flute band competition in Lisburn

THE annual melody flute competition hosted by Lisburn Young Defenders Flute Band was held in Lisburn Orange Hall on Saturday.

The adjudicator was Gary Shields and the compere was Alan Toole, of Lisburn Young Defenders Flute Band.

The bands competing were Ballyhalbert Flute Band, Brookeborough Flute Band (Fermanagh), Omagh Protestant Boys Flute Band, Pride of Ballinran Flute Band (Kilkeel), Shankill Road Defenders Flute Band (Belfast), Sir George White Memorial Flute Band (Broughshane), Skeogh Flute Band (Dromore) and Sons of William Flute Band (Cookstown).

The results were as follows: Melody: 1st - Pride of Ballinran Flute Band 2nd - Skeogh Flute Band 3rd - Sons of William Flute Band . Percussion: 1st - Skeogh Flute Band .

Entertainment: Sir George White Memorial Flute Band .
