Angelic tennis party planned at Wallace Park

A special tennis fun day has been planned at Wallace Park by ‘The Tennis Angels’, who are hoping to raise money for breast cancer charities.

The ‘Strawberries and Cream’ event will be held at the Tennis Centre at Wallace Park on Saturday (June 20) from 5 - 7pm.

‘The Tennis Angels’ are a group of friends rekindling and developing their love for the sport and they are hoping everyone will come along to support the event.

“All ages are welcome and all abilities from beginners to tennis pros.

“There will be music, friendly coaches on hand to guide and a raffle.

“The star prizes are two tennis summer camps worth £50 each.

“Our target is to raise at least £500 for breast cancer charities.

“We are suggesting a minimum donation of £5 per person or £10 per family which includes strawberries and cream.

“Some of us have been affected by breast cancer and we personally know the physical and emotional pain it inflicts.

“One in eight women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

“None of us are immune - in our lifetime it’s likely that we will have a relative, friend or colleague touched by the disease.

“It could be a wife, daughter, mother or sister. Some of us may face breast cancer ourselves - and not just women; men can also be diagnosed.

“The aim is that by 2050, no-one will die from breast cancer.

“They seek to do this by finding ways to prevent the disease, improving early diagnosis and developing new treatments for all types of breast cancer.

“Bringing together everyone affected by breast cancer, and all those who dedicate themselves to stopping the disease, we are here to make progress happen – until the day we end breast cancer, once and for all.”

“We will be donating funds from the Tennis Fun Day to Breast Cancer Campaign/ Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Pretty N Pink, The Willow Foundation and Macmillan.

“We would like to thank Asda Belfast Westwood Superstore for kindly sponsoring the strawberries for the event.

“We hope you will join us on the day but if you’re unable to come, we’d be grateful if you would consider making a donation via JustGiving www.justgiving.com/tennisangels.”
