President Miriam Hunter welcomed members and visitors at their recent meeting.

After WI business was conducted a new member Yvonne Coyle was welcomed. Birthday girls for October were Mary, Barbara and new member Yvonne. Isabel was the birthday girl for November.

Members and friends who had been bereaved were remembered with sympathy. Competition winners of a Town land Limerick were Miriam and runners up were Margaret and Jean.

The guest speaker was Joyce Gibson who gave a very interesting talk and presentation about place names in Co Down and their meanings.

Joyce highlighted how local place names can tell us much about the life of the people who went before us and the lie of the land around us.

Roberta proposed the Vote of Thanks and after supper the meeting closed with A Countrywoman’s song.
