The United Kingdom Independence Party, UKIP, has selected Alan Love as its candidate for Lagan Valley in May’s General Election.
Married with an adult son, Alan is a retired scientific civil servant and has lived in Lisburn for 34 years.
After graduating from Queen’s University, Alan worked as a chemist, mainly in environmental fields until retiring nine years ago.
Since then he has devoted a lot of time to campaigning against climate change mitigation measures. He joined UKIP in 2006.
Commenting on his selection, Alan said, “It is a great privilege to be chosen to stand as a UKIP candidate in Lagan Valley on 7th May.
“In what promises to be an historic General Election, UKIP offers the only real choice to voters here.
“I have long wanted to bring Northern Ireland out of its political isolation from the rest of the United Kingdom and realise that UKIP is the only party which shares that aspiration.I want to see the UK released from the prosperity-destroying shackles of the undemocratic European Union. The voters of Ulster have a choice.
“Return candidates from the tired old Northern-Ireland-only parties to sit on the sidelines at Westminster while others decide our Nation’s future or Vote UKIP and help return the United Kingdom to its people.”
