Abbie scoops Christmaspoetry prize

Moira pupil Abbie Mussen has been praised for her poetic efforts by winning the Christmas poetry competition in the town.

As part of the Moira Christmas lights switch on, pupils at four local schools, Moira Primary, Rowandale Primary, Meadow Bridge Primary and Maralin Primary, were invited to enter a poetry competition.

The pupils all wrote poems entitled ‘What Christmas Means To Me’.

The overall winner of the competition was Abbie Mussen, who is in P6 at Moira
Primary.

As the winner she read out her poem at the Moira lights switch on last Wednesday and received a Christmas hamper from Santa.

‘What Christmas Means to Me’

Friends and family,
joy and cheer

Christmas is that time
of year

When people stop and think of others

Mums and Dads and sisters and brothers

Love and laughter,
Santa is near

Christmas time is
finally here!

Snow and fun, Christmas trees up high

Chocolates, pudding, a turkey, oh my!!

Building snowmen,
so much fun

Christmas time is
number one

Share a smile with a friendly stranger

Don’t forget Jesus lay in a manger

Mary had her baby in
a stable

It even tells us in the Bible

For Christmas is the birthday of God’s only Son

So Christmas is my favourite number one.
