Laugh it up with the Lambeg Players

Lambeg Players take to the stage again at Lisburn’s Lagan Valley Island Studio Theatre on June 27 and 28.

The hilarious characters in ‘When We Are Married’, a fabulous farce from the pen of Mr J B Priestley, are brought to life by the much loved cast of Laura Kerr, Colin Boyd, Liz Ross, Gillian Cherry and the Bennington brothers Paul and Ian.

The performance promises to be a triumph under the direction of Wilfie Pyper, who is known for his multi award winning work with Belfast Operatic Company and Lisnagarvey Operatic and was recently awarded the Best Director for Titanic and The Sound of Music and from the local Association of Irish Music Societies.

‘When We Are Married’, Priestley’s 1938 farce set in West Riding, begins when a group of old friends, all married on the same day, in the same chapel, gather at the Helliwells’ home to celebrate their silver anniversary. To their consternation, they discover that the person who conducted the triple wedding ceremony was not authorised to do so. Pandemonium breaks out when these pillars of society believe they have been living in sin for the past 25 years. Each couple initially reacts with proper Victorian horror – what will the neighbours think? – but soon all three couples find themselves re-evaluating their marriages. Hilarious from start to finish and not to be missed. Tickets £8 and £7 concession are available from the box office at Lagan Valley Island on 028 9250 9254 or on-line at www.islandartscentre.com or for more information contact Arts Information on 028 9250 9509.
