Talking about the concert, Miami Showband star Des Lee said: “The Children’s Hospice came from a conversation with my late wife Brenda, who sadly died from cancer. One day I went to visit her in hospital, and she could see how I was so upset and heartbroken. She turned to me and said, there is a child here dying of cancer and that child is only four years old. I have had a good life and that child will have none. My late wife adored children and she was so looking forward to having a grandchild, sadly it was not to be. So I choose this charity in her honour.”
