Online support group launched

Lymphoma Action, the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people affected by lymphoma, has recently launched an online support meeting in Northern Ireland.

The news has been welcomed by those who have their own experiences of a blood cancer diagnosis, including Ashley Knowles from Maghaberry who was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia in December 2019.

“It’s nice to be part of such a friendly group,” said Ashley (62).

“It has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, and I feel very comfortable in sharing the experience of my condition with others who understand what I am going through.

“It’s also a great opportunity for the people in the group to socialise and meet others online at a time when many of them have had to shield due to health issues or vulnerability during the pandemic.

“The group has been a useful place to go to for further information as well. I hadn’t heard of CLL before my diagnosis, but the information I have gathered from Lymphoma Action’s website, and from speaking to others in the group, has certainly helped me in understanding my condition.

“I can’t thank Lymphoma Action enough for their support, I know they are always there for me, and that makes such a difference.”
