Claire made the decision to shave her head to raise money for Hospice NI after the charity revealed they were struggling to raise money following the closure of the shops due to the Coronavirus lock down.

Claire’s Nana, who was a nurse, died of lung cancer in 2008, and received end of life care from the NI hospice.

The family also sadly lost their Aunty Jayne to cancer in 2015 and, according to Claire’s sister Lindsay-Jayne “she had a lot of admiration for the hospice as they supported her as Nana’s carer towards the end of her life.”

Lindsay-Jayne continued: “I am so proud of our hardworking Nana who for many years worked tirelessly and selflessly for the NHS.

Hospice NI is a great local cause which has touched many families across Northern Ireland and is so deserving of the funds Clare has raised.

“Clare did something that I would never be brave enough to do. For a lot of women the thought of not having their hair is scary and to shave her head was courageous. I think she did a brilliant job and with the current circumstances not having everyone there to cheer her on and still going ahead and doing it herself was admirable, and certainly made for some lockdown entertainment for all of us sat at home watching.”

Claire ha already raised £1,350 for the charity but every penny counts. If you would like to make a donation, visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/clare-pollock3.
