Council offers rent relief to tenants

Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council owns a number of facilities that statutory, voluntary and sporting organisations lease annually and it is offering these tenants a three-month rent relief.

Councillor Ryan Carlin, Corporate Service Committee Chairman, said: “With many people adapting to changes during the coronavirus pandemic as a council we are working hard to support our communities and businesses.

“However, we do not wish to place any added pressure on our tenants who have lost their capability to operate and generate an income at this time of emergency measures and guidance put in place by government.

“At times like this, it is important to show leadership and help our community through this unprecedented time.

“We have 23 tenants that can avail of this three-month rent holiday and I hope that they accept this offer and get some peace of mind at this time.

“I hope everyone stays safe and as a council area that we continue to show a great level of support for others.”

The tenants eligible for this offer lease space at the council’s community or sporting facilities.
