Something for everyone at the Island’s Children’s Arts Festival

Something fun and contagious is happening at the Island this summer at Island Arts Centre’s ultra-cool Urban Summer Playground.

Joining Alderman Paul Porter, Chair of Lisburn City Council’s Leisure Services Committee and Nisha Tandon, Arts Ekta, recently was Aoife Watson as she gets ready for Island’s Children’s Arts Festival 2014.

Festival highlights include Five day arts weeks led by Arts Ekta; fun interactive Children’s Exhibition, Animation Workshops led by Left-Hand Cinema, Radio Production workshops with Cool FM/Cinemagic, Festival Bites, community outreach and much more.

Get playful and creative in the exhibition designed for 0-16 year olds and their grown-ups. Invent your own magnificent metropolis and enjoy hands-on exploration through mural painting, stenciling, printmaking and much more.

Go up, up and away and become a fantastic City Superhero as you delve into the x-ray vision dress box of delights. Scan the panoramic skylines of New York, Paris and London through the inventive and interactive exhibition. Or simply curl up and chillax in their storytelling zone.

The drop-in anytime Arts Zone is packed full of activities including exhibition related arts sheets.

Hip hop tots can get their Festival groove on at the Festival Bites – discotots.

Or why not capture a moment in time at the Happy Pots family pottery workshop. Radio Production with Cool FM’s Mairead Campbell and Animation workshops are on offer for the teenagers in the family.

Bookings for the Festival go live for Island Kids’ Members at 9.30am on Tuesday June 17 before public release at 9.30am on Thursday June 19. So why not get playful and creative in The Urban Playground. From the tiniest of tots to fabulous family fun there’s something for everyone.
