Furnace Mountain goes back to its roots

FURNACE Mountain Roots and Bluegrass ensemble from Virginia will be performing live at the Island Arts Centre on Friday night (June 8) at 8pm.

Last time Furnace Mountain toured the UK it was as if they turned the whole world upside down. There was a virtual feeding frenzy as radio stations competed with each other for a slice of the action. The stunning four-piece made legions of fans on this side of the Atlantic.

Furnace Mountain hails from Virginia, and can only be described as the very best of authentic old-time American Roots.

Furnace Mountain comprises of Morgan Morrison (Bouzouki and Vocals), Aimee Curl (Bass and Vocals), Dave Van Deventer (Fiddle and Vocals) and Danny Knicely (Mandolin).

The music of Furnace Mountain is at times lively and raucous, with spirited fiddle melodies weaving in and around the powerful rhythms of the bass and bouzouki.

It is at other times poignant and poetic, with sublime vocal harmonies beautifully interpreting some of the oldest songs ever written.

Furnace Mountain plays music from the American Appalachian traditions, as well as original compositions, and songs penned by their favourite song-writing friends.
