Andre delights at the Odyssey

Andre Rieu took everyone on a walk through a magical winter wonderland when he returned to the Odyssey Arena in Belfast this week.

With the stage set for Christmas, decked with a tree, snow and twinkling lights, the audience were certainly filled with the festive spirit and needed no excuse to get to their feet to join in the celebrations. The violin virtuoso delighted the packed house with his traditional waltzes, including firm favourites Gold and Silver, and Blue Danube, which had the audience dancing in the aisles.

There was also a special treat as Dame Vera Lynn, via a video projection, wished Andre luck with his show. He then treated the audience to a Vera Lynn classic - We’ll Meet Again. He also paid tribute to South African President Nelson Mandela.

The concert rounded off with a celebration of the Christmas season with a beautiful rendition of ‘White Christmas’ and the choice of song was brought to life when the snow started falling on the audience, some of whom came prepared, armed with umbrellas! No-one wanted the concert to end, with numerous calls for an encore. Everyone will now be hoping that it won’t be too long until Andre is back in Belfast.
