Songstress Barbara Dickson will be performing at Theatre at the Mill on Thursday November 17.

Barbara Dickson is one the most successful recording artistes of recent times.

It is a career that has seen her achieve six platinum, eleven gold, seven silver albums and two Olivier awards for her work in the theatre.

She is delighted to be touring Ireland with her talented keyboard player and vocalist Nick Holland.

From the Scottish Folk Scene of the 1960s to her performance at the Royal Albert Hall, London; Barbara Dickson has captivated audiences with her soulful renditions of material from the traditional songs of her native Scotland to her outstanding musical theatre roles.

Respected by her peers, the accolades flow, the late Gerry Rafferty said her version of ‘The Right Moment’ was his favourite cover of any song he’d written; Troy Donockley, with whom she records and creates work with, said she stands alone in her commitment to the truth in song; Aly Bain describing her voice as the best to come out of Scotland.

The multi award winning performer modestly says of herself “I have been touched with a gift that is of great importance to me, one I wish to share with everyone.

“It’s not about technique’ she continued, ‘but what is in your heart. That is the secret.’

Barbara’s special guest on the night is Anthony Toner.

Currently working on new material for his seventh album, Anthony has been described as John Prine meets James Taylor in a second hand book shop.

The show begins at 7.45pm and tickets, priced £25, are on sale now from the Theatre at the Mill Box Office on 028 9034 0202.
