The festive season is now getting well underway and the choirs from two local schools have a lot to look forward to this Christmas.

The choir from Friends School Lisburn Prep and the Friends Singers from Friends School, Lisburn, as well as the choir from Pond Park Primary School, who were crowned Junior School Choir of the Year in April, will be taking to the stage of the Waterfront Hall in Belfast next month.

Pond Park Primary School scooped the Junior Section of the BBC School Choir of the Year competition when the 60-pupil strong choir sang two beautiful pieces ‘Colours of the Wind’ and ‘Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines’ during a live performance at the Ulster Hall earlier this year.

The local choirs will be joining other school choirs and performers in this year’s festive Music Box show at the Waterfront Hall from Thursday December 17 to Saturday December 19.

Sponsored by SPAR, this heart-warming and family friendly spectacular will take audiences on a magical festive journey through a selection box of music, readings, song and dance.

This year’s Music Box is an entirely new production filled with music gems past, present, traditional and contemporary.

Presented by Peter Corry, the show features guest dancers from the Strictly Come Dancing tour and internationally renowned West End leading lady Joanna Ampil, star of Miss Saigon, Les Misérables and Cats.

Also back by popular demand is Game of Thrones star, Ian McElhinney who returns after his appearance in the show last year.

All this in addition to the very finest local talent, guest choirs, ballet girls and boy trebles who together will delight, entrance and get everyone in festive mood.

Tickets for the Music Box are on sale now from the Waterfront Hall Box Office on 9033 4455 or online at www.waterfront.co.uk.
