Acclaimed Lisburn singer songwriter Michael Mormecha, who released his new debut solo album earlier this year, is set to perform a hometown gig at the Island Arts Centre on September 30.

Michael Mormecha is a self-producing multi-instrumentalist. When not fronting Belfast’s favourite alternative rock band Mojo Fury who have played along side Biffy Clyro, Oceansize, Everything Everything and a whole lot more, Michael will be fusing sounds and styles of music at his farmhouse studio.

With having spent the past year producing records for bands such as The Bonnevilles, Malojian, Runaway Go to name a few, it was time for Mormecha to put pen to paper for his own material. LOFi LiFE is his debut solo album.

Following a successful PledgeMusic campaign raising 139% of the total, LOFi LiFE was released on 9th May 2016 on Swallow Song Records.

Michael Mormecha has recently been nominated for this year’s highly prestigious Northern Ireland Music Prize, which has previously been won by SOAK and Foy Vance.

The NI Music Prize In Association With Blue Moon is produced by the Oh Yeah music centre and is also supported by The Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

It will be presented at a live awards event at Mandela Hall in Belfast on November 11.
