Tubby's farm is ready for Sunflowerfest

This weekend Tubby's Farm in Hillsborough will be transformed into the site for Sunflowerfest, a music festival that has become a summer calendar highlight.

It kicks off today (Friday)and will continue until Sunday (August 7) with what’s being billed as an amazing variety of music, activities and events,.

“There will be something for everyone at Tubby’s Farm,” a spokesperson said.

“This year’s festival includes an outstanding bill, topped by headliners which promise to draw a crowd from across the UK and Ireland.

“Friday night’s headliners, Le Galaxie, will take to the main stage at 10.45pm, with their high-energy electro-based sound helping to bring the festival to life.

“Saturday will see Cavan-based rockers The Strypes headline the main stage at 10.40pm, offering something for the rock-and-roll fans in attendance at this year’s Sunflowerfest.

“Helping to end the festival on Sunday, folk-influenced headliners CoCo and the Butterfields – now Sunflowerfest veterans – will bring their eclectic sound to the main stage audience as the expected record-setting crowd sees 2016’s festival to a close.

“Or cosy up at the Campire Stage and listen to accoustic sets from artists including Malojian, Dubliners After The Ibis, Matthew Malcolm, No Oil Paintings, Vokxen, and Jealous of the Birds,among others.

“This year there will be a few major changes at Sunflowerfest, the biggest being the emergence of ElectroMoot, a dedicated electronic stage with an eclectic mix of DJs and live performances playing all weekend, but there is more to Sunflowerfest than just music.

“Northern Ireland’s premier living history re-enactment group, the Magnus Vikings Association, will ‘invade’ Tubby’s Farm and guests this year can avail of the cornucopia of food and drink on offer in the NI Year of Food and Drink Village Tent. There will also be poetry and comedy, theatre and talks, and lots of arts and crafts for all the family.

“You can also chill out in the holistic area, where there are lots of therapies and treatments on offer, including reflexology, massage, yoga, and drumming circles.”
