Rehearsals underway for Sweet Charity

Rehearsals are in full swing for the latest production from the award winning local musical theatre company Lisnagarvey Operatic.

The popular Lisburn company will be staging the smash hit musical Sweet Charity at the Island Hall at the beginning of April.

Have you ever known a girl who wanted something so badly that she tried too hard to get it? Meet Charity Hope Valentine, the Dance Hall Hostess and eternal optimist. She is the girl who wants to be loved so much that she has lost sight of who she is.

Charity sings, dances, laughs and cries her way through a series of bad relationships but holds out hope and seems to have met a decent fellow in Oscar Lindquist. Will she be able to keep her real job a secret or will their romance end in another disappointment?

Charity’s world is the all too real life of Times Square, and the people who pass through are as deceptively charming as ever. From her cynical, hardcore trio of girlfriends at the dance hall, to the phoney evangelist and the Central Park Strollers, every character is unique.

In Lisnagarvey Operatic’s production Charity will be played by Lauren Molloy, Oscar by Rea Campbell-Hill, Victorio by Sean Harkin and Daddy Brubeck by Andy Scott to name a few.

Award winning director Wilfie Pyper is once again joining the Lisburn company for their Spring production, together with Ian Milford as Musical Director and Clare Donnelly as choreographer.

Featuring a fabulous score, including the classic songs Big Spender, There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This, Rhythm Of Life, If My Friends Could See Me Now, I’m A Brass Band, and Baby, Dream Your Dream, this comical but tender show is definitely one not to be missed.

The curtain will go up on the show on Tuesday April 12 and it will run until Saturday April 16.

Tickets are on sale from the Box Office on 9250 9254 or online at www.laganvalleyisland.co.uk.
