Lisburn singer gets ready for album release

The new track shows a completely different side to the Mojo Fury and Malojian songwriter to previous singles ‘Family’ and ‘Happily Lost’, veering sharply away from the trashy garage rock and futuristic, dreamlike alt-pop that he’s showcased so far and taking inspiration from the hushed, folk-tinged recordings of the likes of Elliott Smith, Nick Drake and John Martyn.

It’s a stripped-back and delicate song that leaves nowhere to hide, fully demonstrating his exceptional songwriting technique in just over a minute and a half.

The album Pledge campaign has already reached 116% of its goal with a percentage of any further money raised going to his chosen charity, Brake, a road safety charity which helps and supports victims of road traffic accidents and teached kids to be aware of the dangers on the road.

Citing influence from the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Sia, Ariel Pink, Conan Mocasin and Micachu and The Shapes, ‘LOFi LiFE’ is a brave and contemporary take on alternative indie pop.

When not fronting Belfast’s favourite alternative rock band Mojo Fury, who have played alongside the likes of Biffy Clyro, Oceansize, Everything Everything and many more, Michael can be found locked away fusing textures, sounds and styles of music at his home farmhouse studio, Millbank.

Having spent the past year producing records for bands such as The Bonnevilles, Malojian and Runaway Go, to name a few, the collective pool of residual creativity had finally built up to the point where it was time for Mormecha to put pen to paper for his own material.
