THOMSON Airways which is flying to a number of destinations from Belfast International Airport this summer is continuing to upgrade its fleet of aircraft.

The airline recently took delivery of two new Boeing 737-800's.

The two leased aircraft are the first new deliveries Thomson Airways has received from Boeing since it was formed by the merger of Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways.

New Thomson Airways Boeing 737-800's to Operate Short and Medium Haul Routes

Powered by CFM 56 engines, the new Thomson Airways Boeing 737-800s will be operated on short/medium haul routes.

They have been configured to allow seating for 189 passengers in standard class.

The delivery of the two aircraft is part of a wider programme of renewal for the Thomson Airways fleet.

As part of this programme, Thomson Airways will be the first UK carrier to fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 2011.

Chris Browne, Managing Director of the airline, said: "We are delighted to take delivery of two brand new Boeing 737-800s. This aircraft will ensure that our customers continue to receive an excellent in-flight experience with our airline."
