WILDCATS, Cheerleaders, High School graduates, you name it and the kids were dressed like it as they turned out in force last night (Monday) as High School Musical 2 began its run at the Grand Opera House.
What time is it? Summer time for the East High Wildcats in High School Musical 2.
What time is it? Summer time for the East High Wildcats in High School Musical 2.
Everyone's favourite East High Wildcats are enjoying their summer holidays in the second installment of the hit franchise, and it's a summer of twists and turns for Troy, Gabriella and their friends and frenemies, namely Sharpay Evans, alike.

Pounding rain failed to dampen the spirits of the fans as they came prepared for a fun show, filled with their favourite songs, and they weren't disappointed.

The talented cast had some of the younger, and more energetic, audience members dancing in the aisles as they saw the movie come to life on stage.

Beautiful sets, colourful costumes and a sparkle of Sharpay's trademark pink diamantes were the order of the day as the Wildcats set off for some summer fun working together at the luxurious Lava Springs Country Club.

However, the happy crew were soon brought down to earth as the scheming Sharpay had secretly arranged the jobs in order to separate Troy and Gabriella, alienating her friends and her brother Ryan along the way.

Of course, fans didn't need to worry too long, as the cute couple were soon reunited as Sharpay learnt the error of her ways.

Featuring songs from the hit movie, including 'What Time Is It?', 'You are the Music in Me', 'Bet on It', and 'Everyday', the cast, including newcomer Liam Doyle, winner of GMTV's Search for Troy contest, as Troy Bolton, delivered superb performances.

Doyle shone as Troy, with his vocal and dance ability showing why he won over GMTV viewers, and more leading roles certainly await him. Meanwhile, Lauren Hall was fantastic as Sharpay, the girl everyone loves to hate, whilst Nikki Mae brought all the sweetness of Gabriella to the role, making her a likeable leading lady.

Les Dennis brought the laughs as Mr Fulton, the Manager of the resort, in a fun-filled role for the TV veteran.

High School Musical fans, as well as those just going along to take the kids for a night out, will not be disappointed by this production that's full of energy, fun and will see you leaving the theatre smiling.

High School Musical 2 continues at the Grand Opera House until Saturday. For further information you can pay a visit to www.goh.co.uk.
