LIFE is a Cabaret at the Grand Opera House next week when the cast of the award-winning musical take to the stage.
Since its Broadway premiere in 1966 and the famous movie version with Liza Minnelli, Michael York and Joel Grey, Cabaret has won a staggering numb
er of stage and screen awards including 8 Oscar's, 7 BAFTA's and 13 Tony's.

Set in Germany in the 1930s, Cabaret is dark, decadent and delightful and stars dance legend Wayne Sleep, alongside Samantha Barks, hugely popular star of the hit BBC show I'd Do Anything, in the lead role of Kit Kat Klub performer Sally Bowes.

Wayne Sleep will be reprising his role as the notorious Emcee, but admits this is a very different production from the last time he stepped into the role.

"The show takes place in Berlin in 1931 and its where everybody from Europe went to be decadent. It was the place to be" he explained.

"It's about this girl's journey and the boy she falls in love with but she's flighty and doesn't take it seriously. At the same time there is the uprising of the Nazi party.

"There's comedy and seriousness," he continued. "A lot of fun and some great numbers but it is very dark; the director has really gone for that side of it.

"It is important to bring out the seriousness of it and it is certainly darker than the last production I was in, which was much more glitzy and lighter."

Wayne is delighted that he gets to show off his singing talents in this new production and, having staged his own musical extravaganza in the past he is certainly no stranger to song and dance.
Wayne is also thrilled to be coming back to Belfast, where he has performed in both the Waterfront and the Opera House, as well as spending time teaching.

"I love Belfast. I love the progress there. I always stay close by so that I can see a bit of the city as well," he added.

From the creators of hit musical Chicago, Cabaret features show-stopping choreography, dazzling costumes and some of the most iconic songs in musical theatre including 'Mein Herr', 'Maybe This Time', 'Married', 'Tomorrow Belongs to Me' and of course 'Cabaret'.
