THE Ladies Branch at Lisburn Golf Club gathered on Monday February 4 to welcome the installation of their new Captain Mrs Sylvia McKelvey. The outgoing Captain, Mrs Janice Wallace reminisced about her year as captain, an experience that she found humbling and so very enjoyable. Mrs Wallace helped Mrs McKelvey to put on her new blazer for the first time as Captain. In her address, Sylvia recounted her first experience of golf under the tutelage of her husband, an event that led to a long association with the club and the start of many close friendships.

Mrs McKelvey expertly chaired the AGM during which the following new committee members were welcomed; Mrs Hilary Morrison, Mrs Valerie Rooney and Mrs Joyce Anderson. As always, the announcement of the new Vice-Captain’s identity was revealed, to much delight all round, as Mrs Gil Colvin accepted this honour.

In her last act as Captain, Mrs Janice Wallace presented a cheque for £454 to Mrs Hazel Henderson who accepted on behalf of the NI Children’s Hospice. The money was raised by the Ladies Branch who hosted a Ladies Night at the club.
