Success for Stephen at Pool Championships

Local man Stephen Johnston, second right, was successful with the Northern Ireland team at the recent World Eightball Pool Championships in Blackpool.

THERE was success for Lisburn man Stephen Johnston at the recent World Eightball Pool Championships, which were held in Blackpool from October 29 to November 3.

Stephen took part in both the team and individual events, where he won a bronze medal with a third place finish in the Men’s senior category representing Northern Ireland. Stephen also finished joint first place in the stats out of all the competing countries with a win ratio of 72%.

In the individual event, Stephen was a losing semi-finalist to England’s Steve Woodier. On the way there he beat the reigning world champion Martin Fisher from Scotland 6-3. Stephen would like to thank Lisburn City Council for their support.
