LOCAL boy Jonathan Campbell has become the youngest ever Minimoto rider to win both classes in the same year at the 2012 Irish Minimoto Championships.

Nine year old Jonny, who lives in Ballymacash, collected his trophies at the end of season awards dinner held in the Michelin Athletic Club, Ballymena, on November 10.

The Ballymacash Primary School pupil won the Junior 4.2 Aircooled Class and the Junior 6.2 Production Class in only his second year on the Italian Polini machine.

Jonny has decided to continue to ride the Polini, which he won the championship on in 2012, for next season.

The local boy will be going into the 2013 season focused on retaining his two Junior championship titles.

Jonny was crowned double Irish Junior Minimoto Champion at the final round of the Minimoto Racing Club of Ireland on October 21, taking top honours in the Under 12s Junior Lights and Under 12s Junior Production classes.

He has raced all over Ireland throughout the season at tracks such as Nutts Corner, Co Antrim, White River Park, Co Louth, Athboy Co Westmeath and Castlefin, Co Donegal, taking many race wins and with a few low points throughout the season he battled on to become Irish champion.

Jonny would like to thank local businesses Ashvale Landscapes and Pro Cleaner Cleaning Services for all their support throughout the season.
