Home defeat for thirds

LISNAGARVEY THIRDS 0

KILKEEL SECONDS 3

LISNAGARVEY Thirds hosted Kilkeel missing five players from their regular team.

The Garvey side started the stronger of the two dominating possession but not being able to find the killer pass. However Kilkeel were dangerous on the break. The first chance of the game came from a Kilkeel short corner where the initial shot was charged down by Seb Buser, but the rebound ended up creeping over the line after the efforts of goalkeeper Graeme Shaw. As Garvey looked for the necessary response to falling behind the opposite happened, with some slack defending from the Garvey unit they gifted Kilkeel a second goal.

The second half began with the Garvey boys coming out of the blocks quicker and they began to create chance after chance, but were somehow unable to convert.

The main Garvey threat came from the pace of Patrick Keery and the flair of Ian Harbinson, but it just looked like one of those days for Garvey.

Garvey’s bad luck continued through an own goal from the experienced John Gray after the ball deflected onto him off the goal keeper. With the game at 3-0 there was no way back for Garvey and they know it is now vital to bounce back with a win.
