Club’s Thirds take another hammering
SOUTH Thirds took a hammering for the second week in succession.
The Lisburn side only had themselves to blame as the youthful Bandridge side punished some very weak tackling at times from the South defence and the inability of the midfield to retain possession and link with the forwards. Despite these short comings and conceding a succession of penalty corners the local side had managed to keep the scoreline at 1-0 until the final minute of the first half when Banbridge deservedly added a second.
South came out a more physical side in the second half and were unfortunate to go three down after 10 minutes to Banbridge’s first real chance of the half.
The Lisburn side applied a bit of their own pressure at the other end and Gordon McCandless pulled one back from a penalty corner switch.
With nothing to lose South continued to push men forward but as play broke down Banbridge added two more on the counter attack.
South know what they have to work on over the coming weeks as the manner of the last two defeats shows how clinical the opposition are at this level in punishing basic mistakes.
