Playing for the Belmullet Club in County Mayo he travelled nearly 3,000 miles during the campaign. His nearest match was at Carrick on Shannon. After winning at the first tie hole, to send his team into the final, he had to make the 115 miles journey home. In the final he lost the away match at Tuam but won at home to force a 5–5 draw.
