Ballinderry reach National Fours finals

BALLINDERRY have reached the finals of the IIBA National fours after two of their rinks reached the Lisburn Zone final when the deciders started at Lisnagarvey High School last Friday night.

In group 1 Keith Morrison reached the final with a win over Glen Harvey, Anahilt Presbyterian and Hillsborough Social’s Nick Haire reached the decider by beating Gabriel Brankin, St Clare’s.

Morrison beat Haire to reach the overall final.

In the other group Dessie Hamilton, Hillsborough Social, beat Sammy Bates, Eglantine and Raymond Stubbs won against Jim Johnston Soldierstown.

Stubbs beat Hamilton in the decider.

DETAILS: A. Morrison, N. Marsden, E. Marsden, K. Morrison Ballinderry beat A. Riley, R. Greer, Nathan Haire, Nick Haire Hillsborough Social; Ron Stubbs, P. Reid, G. Stubbs, Raymond Stubbs Ballinderry beat J. Hamilton, G. Ervine, N. Hamilton, D. Hamilton, Hillsborough Social.

CORRECTION: in last week’s edition it was stated that Philip Dennison/Noel Graham, Loughaghery and Ron Stubbs, Gordon Stubbs, Paul Reid and Raymond Stubbs, Ballinderry reached the semi-finals of the Champion of Champions Tournament in the pairs and fours respectively. Actuallyy they lost in the finals.
