JIM Hanna (26) put the disappointment of missing out on being selected for the Ulster 4-ball team behind him by winning the Hoover/Candy sponsored stroke competition at Lambeg Golf Club with a net 59 (7 under par).

LAGAN Valley Athletics Club had another great competition last Thursday evening on the new Mary Peters track, with over 300 athletes taking centre stage and competing against each other.
ON Saturday May 4 the 2012/2013 Winter League was finally brought to a close at Rockmount Golf Club.
THE second division of the First Blues Lisburn and District Dart League came down to the wire this week with The Crows and Downside fighting it out to be crowned Champions.
HOTTIES Road Racing and Michael Pearson, scored a fantastic podium treble at Saturday’s Around a Pound Tandragee 100 Road Races in Co-Armagh, with Lisburn racer Pearson also recording his fastest ever laps around the five mile circuit in the final race of the day at just over 106mph.
GOOD weather helped to make the Mayor’s Charity Golf Day a great success at Lisburn last Thursday. Twenty two teams took part in the event with the proceeds going to Stepping Stones. The best two scores counted at each hole with all four scores counting at the 9th and 18th. Team prizes and individual prizes were awarded. Other prizes were raffled and auctioned.
THERE was a four-way tie at the top of the leader board, in the Thelma Cup qualifier at Dunmurry, last Saturday.
THE Nutts Corner Circuit will be alive once again this Saturday for the second round of the Ulster Karting Club championship series races this season.
THE summer golfing season is now in full swing for Lambeg Ladies and they have had a few good seasonal days where the golf and the style are on display.

THE Wallace High School boys’ hockey teams achieved a unique quadruple before Easter as they qualified for four finals in Ulster Schools’ competitions.

LISBURN rider Michael Pearson this week confirmed that he will take part in next month’s Horice Road Races in the Czech Republic after he and Hotties Road Racing agreed to take part in the event on the weekend of 18/19th May 2013.

ROCKMOUNT Ladies Golf Club hosted their first ever bridge drive, afternoon tea and fashion show. The day was inspired and organised by Honorary Secretary, Margaret Harrison. The afternoon started with the bridge drive; there were some very serious players and some ladies playing for fun. Thank you to Mr Ron Hall who organised the Bridge on the day.
THE Lady Captain, Mrs Sylvia McKelvey, welcomed the lady members to the first prize night of the new season at Lisburn Golf Club recently.
THIS week’s competition at Rockmount Golf Club, sponsored by Trotter and Reid Insurance attracted a large entry.

LOCAL athletes took part in an athletics competition last Thursday evening at the Mary Peters track, which was the first competition to be held on the new eight lane track.
GARY McCarter (10) had his best ever round of golf at Lisburn last week to lead the qualifiers in the Mills CNC sponsored Hilden Cup. After heavy rain during the week the course was damp in some areas necessitating ‘lift, clean and place through the green’.
LISNAGARVEY Thirds play in their second successive McClements Cup final on Saturday. They travel to Stormont to take on Raphoe Seconds hoping to retain the trophy they won last season against Instonians.
GARVEY need only a point form their last IHL game to secure a place in the semi final stages.
