Medal haul for Lisburn Taekwondo Club

Fifteen players from Lisburn Taekwondo Club travelled to Dublin to take part in the Ireland Open championships held in Tallaght leisure centre on December 13.

The competition was a joint venture between the Irish Taekwondo Union and the United Taekwondo Association of NI. With over 200 competitors from Ireland, north and south, England and the Isle of Man.

Lisburn managed to come away with an impressive 11 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Lisburn had two players compete in the A class division, Master Stewart and Laura Burns gaining 2 gold, 2 silver and a bronze.

They had a further nine players compete at both B and C class with Gold medals being won by Amy, Candice, Leanne and Neil. Silver and Bronze medals being won by Emily, Patrick, Ethan, James and Victoria.

Lisburn Taekwondo Club meets on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Saturday’s in Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn with Master Peter Stewart - 5th Dan.

Meanwhile, Maghaberry Taekwondo Club meets in Maghaberry Community Centre on Wednesday’s with Adrian Williams - 3rd Dan.
