A team from Lisburn Rugby club particpated in the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) Mini rugby festival for under 11’s on Saturday May 23.
The festival was held at the Aviva stadium in Dublin. Lisburn were one of three teams from the Ulster branch, the others being Ballymena RFC and Coleraine RFC.
Representatives from the other three provinces were also included.
It was a fantastic occassion and one which the boys will remember for a long time. Each team was greeted on to the field by a fanfare announcement.
The festival included a tour of the stadium, and an opportunity to have individual photographs taken with the 6 Nations trophy.
The Lisburn boys acquitted themselves very well in all games, winning two, drawing one, and narrowly losing a fourth.
Lisburn RFC mini section is one of the strongest in the province with over 200 players particpating each weekend of the season.
The section caters for all ages from P2-P7 and has a toddlers section (the Cygnets) for Nursery and P1 children. Training for the 2015/2016 season will commence in September.
