The season started in a high scoring manner for South 4s and new captain, Graeme Alister, in the Junior 5 League cup.

The match started with a flourish for South with two early goals from Ian McElhenny and Alan Hamilton.

These two goals provided the well drilled South side with a platform to play some lovely fluid hockey without pressure and inevitably this led to seven further goals.

The first half ended at 9-0 with Patric Cochrane scoring the pick of the goals with a well hit reverse from a ridiculously tight angle that caught the keeper off guard.

In the second half North Down improved and became more organised but still could find no answer to this South side playing with confidence and, though they managed to pull one back, South went on to add 5 more goals without reply.

The scorers were Ian McElhenny x5, Alan Hamilton x4,Patric Cochrane x2, Stuart Glenn, Alan Smith and Kurtis Gamble.

South Antrim 3s began their season with a loss against Kilkeel 3s. South showed the effects of a long summer and no preseason by quickly going 2-0 down.

However, Phil Staughton put a strong performance in on his south debut.

South blew their cobwebs off and pulled a goal back through George Glass, but it was not enough.
